WYIF   With yarn in Front

1st collection to be launched Showroom Romeo PFW March 3-11 2025

What interests me most about designing these handmade scarves is the opportunity to “break with tradition”

Inspiration

A fast pace urban life. A deconstructed reimagining of punk made sculpturally with twists and folds of merino and alpaca. I have often used recycled synthetic yarns next to natural merino or alpaca to create conflicting textures and drape. The scarves are a powerful merge of heritage and subculture. That subversive energy of youth juxtaposed with a subtle confidence of femininity translates into a silhouette that is WYIF. A London aesthetic with an air of the English eccentric.

I enjoy the clashing of characters in these design decisions.

The scarf is a tactile accessory and a layer of armour.

These pieces complement the archetype of womenswear, classic black leather jacket, jeans and T shirt.

Colour palette

Strong blocks, black and white, red and oatmeal . Sharp whites next to un-dyed natural merinos next to a black synthetic, creating a vibrant contrast in form and drape.

The fine alpaca is loosely knitted with ladders and skipped stitches and laid over a traditional stocking stitch to accentuate the luxury of these methods once considered rebellious and street.

Yarns

Lambswool from the Shetland Isles, Super soft hypoallergenic Merino from Yorkshire and luxurious fine Peruvian Alpaca.  Polished metal clasps and oversized fastenings lay over tactile textured stripes of super chunky Tufty yarn both bold and insulting.

Sustainability and Staying power

All scarves are made by hand in the UK. Each one individual depending on the hands that construct it.

Our commitment to source ethically produced local yarns at the  highest quality of construction and a strong design focus is what leads us.

Environmental considerations and the championing of a craft that is innately slow and contemplative in nature. The handmade method means it cannot be duplicated or remade.

We trace our natural materials from source so we know the breed and welfare of origin.
